Stage 5/The Black Desert March: 87.6 kilometers (54.31 miles)
- Departing at 4 am, competitors will leave Camp Black Desert for a nearly 90 kilometer stage that will take most competitors through the night. Special tea is planned for a village and a spring has been located close to the fifth checkpoint where competitors may take a swim. The stage is both moderate in sections and difficult.
Stage 6/Foosteps to the Pyramids of Giza: Less than one kilometer.
Competitors will arrive just a short distance from the famous Pyramids of Giza. Special permission has been granted to finish in this heavily guarded area. Competitors will depart from just to the left of the Sphynx following a stone path through the middle of pyramids before taking a sharp left towards the finish. The finish is on a ridge with a spectacular view of the pyramids.

Stage 4/Route of the Nomads: 40.5 kilometers (25.15 miles)
- Leaving Camp Ice Cream Cone, competitors climb uphill among rock formations to a sandy plateau. The sand is hard packed for the next two stages before they follow a track on top of a hill. The section is rated difficult and moderate.

A group of 108 competitors turned out today. That number included a few who’d technically withdrawn from the event, but were keen to do as much of this course as they could, squeezing the maximum out of their experience.
